Calvin Klein released Escape in 1991, and it wears that decade proudly: juicy melon over a mossy, slightly bitter base.
The fruit is generous. Melon leads, with apple, apricot and peach close behind. Coriander adds a peppery bite, and chamomile brings a soft, herbal calm that you rarely find next to fruit.
The heart is a big mixed bouquet of carnation, lily of the valley, rose and ylang-ylang. Oakmoss and amber finish it, dry and earthy on one side, warm on the other.
That oakmoss is what separates Escape from modern fruity florals. If you remember it from years ago, it will feel familiar. If you only know today’s sugary fruit scents, expect something greener and more grown-up.
Eau de Parfum in 1.7 oz or 3.4 oz.
From the same era, Contradiction is another bold floral. Eternity is the cleaner classic. More Calvin Klein perfumes.
